OP Group Pleased to Welcome Fairlight_Excalibur as New Client

We are pleased to announce that the Online Performers Group is now representing Fairlight_Excalibur

Fairlight Excalibur is a variety streamer and modern-day knight who started his career due to his love of storytelling and adventure. A Twitch streamer since 2014, Fairlight has become a fan favorite and a true master of his craft over the course of the past few years.

Fairlight’s knights have come to love his stream’s unique blend of highly-skill gameplay in conjunction with an intriguing narrative element that he brings to any game he dives into. For Fairlight, playing a game is about far more than the destination, it’s about the journey undertaken to get there.

We will be providing business development, negotiation, and day-to-day management services so that Fairlight_Excalibur can continue to focus on providing high-quality, live streaming entertainment to his fans.

OPG Company Philosophy and Goals for 2018

Hello everyone! 2018 is in full-swing and the team at OPG is excited to accomplish more for our clients than ever before. This is the fourth year that Online Performers Group has been in business – and I think it’s a good time to explain some of our guiding principles and outline the OPG company philosophy. Additionally, I’d like to share a bit of information on some of the new benefits we are rolling out for broadcasters as part of our management service.

OPG Company Philosophy

At OPG, broadcasters come first. Period.

We will never compromise on this.

Every day, broadcasters with limited resources find themselves negotiating against billion-dollar companies that employ armies of executives, lawyers, and agencies to get the best possible deals for themselves. Broadcasters need someone in their corner – and that’s what we aim to be.

As this industry continues to grow, we’ll start to see other management companies emerge. Some of them will be truly excellent competitors to us and I welcome that. Competition forces us to be better and stick to the core tenants of the OPG company philosophy.

At the same time, I expect to see more companies exploiting broadcasters in the guise of managing them. Taking a page from MCNs of the past, they will say that they work for broadcasters, but will provide no services, no support staff, no guidance. They will lack respect for the craft of broadcasting and for its practitioners. Ultimately, they will be another set of agents acting on behalf of publishers, hardware companies, etc., diverting money from the pockets of hardworking content creators.

With both the good and the bad in mind, we decided to publically publish the Online Performers Group Client Promise. These principles define who we are and what we do – they are a promise to our clients and to the entire community of broadcasters. We take them seriously. Breaking these promises at Online Performers Group is a fireable offense.

A Promise to Our Clients

1. You’re the boss. We work for you.

2. You’re a star, not a salesperson.

3. We will always be transparent with you. We will disclose the full amount of money being charged to a company for your services, and will disclose if we are compensated in any way by a company or agency outside of individual campaign orders.

4. We will provide honest advice that is in your best long-term personal and financial interest rather than our own short-term financial interests.

5. We will not guilt or pressure you into agreeing to activations, sponsorships, or other activities.

6. We will never take credit for your success, financial, viewership, or otherwise. We believe you’re the driver of your success and that we are here to enable you to focus more on what you do best.

7. We will continually strive to add services that contribute to a better work-life balance.

8. Our role extends far beyond money and finances. We’re here to help with your overall career, life plans, day-to-day business & logistical needs, and future direction.

9. We’re in this for the long haul. (We’re not looking for a quick payoff – never feel bad about turning down an opportunity.)

10 Ask for anything you want, anytime, and we will let you know how we can help!

What’s Next?

Last year, we announced lower rates for clients who take vacations, which is on schedule to begin in March. We also quietly rolled out services including travel planning and payroll management for broadcasters who have their own employees, as well as taking a few of our clients on our company cruise.

At the start the year, we’ve hired an accountant named Amanda Young and are developing a pilot program for managing broadcasters’ income taxes and financial logistics. We must test and refine these systems, but our goal is to be able to offer tax preparation and payment solutions to all of our clients by the end of 2018.

Similarly, starting at TwitchCon last year, we began a pilot program with the goal of providing health care benefits to our US-based clients and their families. We’ve been working with a few clients on this and I’m happy to say that it is functioning as intended. There are still some kinks to work out, but assuming things continue on track, we’re hoping to roll this benefit out by the end of the year.

Providing Broadcasters With What They Need

When I started developing Online Performers Group, I asked broadcasters what they needed most. Invariably, I heard “a stable income, vacation days, health insurance and someone to do my taxes.” I’m proud to say that we’ve managed to help with the first two and are well on the way to the rest. Accomplishing these four goals makes me happier than pretty much anything I’ve done in my career – and I’m thankful to the wonderful team at Online Performers Group for working to make the OPG company philosophy into a reality.

OP Group Pleased to Announce Three New Clients

Happy New Year! 2017 was an incredible year for online content creators as well as our team here at Online Performers Group. With another year in the books, 2018 looks to be off to a good start as we announce that three talented broadcasters have just hired OPG as their management resource.

It’s our pleasure to announce that Online Performers Group will now be representing Faux, Wyld, and B0aty!

Faux

Veteran, streamer, and student, Faux is one of the biggest names in Runescape on Twitch. He is a talented influencer who manages to balance his work, his education, and his personal life very well. He began his streaming career on Twitch in early 2013, and by the end of the year he was partnered and had a loyal community of Runescape fans. Being such an important and large part of the Runescape space has made him a powerful force in one of the most consistently popular directories on Twitch. Faux has a passion for fitness, and enjoys sharing his knowledge, education, and personal experiences with his audience. On stream, he strives to maintain a positive environment focused on constant communityinteraction.

Wyld

Twitch streamer, modpack maker, and voice actor are but a small summation of the talents that Wyld brings to the table.
Raised by boxing kangaroos in the wildlife sanctuary known as Australia, Wyld is no stranger to survival; making a name for himself in Minecraft’s treacherous hardcore mode. While the stream continues with modpacks for Minecraft, Wyld’s love and over 35 years of experience in gaming shines through with discussion and in-depth analysis of both new releases and gaming classics.
With an engaging personality and an incredibly magnetic charm, this uncanny Aussie has a strong community that has proven to be one of the most loyal on Twitch.

B0aty

Possessing over a decade of in-game experience, B0aty is by far one of the most prolific Runescape players in history. Known primarily for his overall knowledge of the game, as well as his skill in both PvE and PvP play, B0aty possesses an in-game resume that is hard to match. Aside from his high-level play, B0aty is well-known for his charitable efforts on behalf of MacMillan Cancer Support, raising over 140,000 thousand pounds for charity. With his unique combination of high-level gameplay and his irresistible ginger charm, this brilliant Brit is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic personalities online.

These signings represent the beginning of an important year for Online Performers Group as we continue to expand our services to more broadcasters. We will be providing business development, negotiation, and day-to-day management services so that they can continue to focus on providing high-quality livestreaming entertainment to their fans.

Online Performers Group Announces New Benefits for Broadcasters

In 2017, we got a few serious wake-up calls. From the tragic death of Brian Vigneault to Bikeman’s fortunately less-tragic heart attack, we’ve seen numerous examples where broadcasters need to take better care of themselves. Work/life balance is something we’re passionate about at Online Performers Group – and not a topic we take lightly.

For us, 2018 is going to be the year of work/life balance. For content creators, work/life balance is the biggest thing that’s missing – and our greatest concern. We’ve done things like take clients on cruises and host vacations in San Diego, but it’s not enough. The pressures broadcasters feel still weigh heavily on them. As a company and as an industry, I know we can do more to fix this.

Today, I’m happy to announce two linked benefits that we will be providing for clients starting next year. The first is that starting on February 1, 2018, OPG will take a substantially lower revenue share from our management clients. There’s only one minor catch… which happens to be the other benefit.

THE OPG MODEL

As a company, one of our core philosophies is to never take an action that would cost our clients money. We built our business model around revenue sharing, rather than a fee-based system. This was designed to minimize upfront risk for broadcasters.

Our business model starts with a couple simple ideas:

• Our clients should never lose money by working with us.

• And we make money together, or not at all.

As such, we only take a revenue share on the business that we grow together, where we can clearly demonstrate our value. We will never take subscription, tip, bit or advertising revenues from broadcasters, nor take away their ownership rights or ability to make the right decision for their channels.

Our model has been working well. Clients have experienced growth in their sponsored revenues by as much as 2500% (though 300-500% has been more typical!). This has allowed us to increase the staff that serve them, adding data analysts, PR executives and event planners while allowing us to ensure that each broadcaster has a full-time account manager that can respond to them almost instantly on any topic, from getting them keys for a new game to helping them propose to their girlfriend.

Each time we hit a new growth milestone, Jenn and I talk about how we can best invest the profits. So far, we’ve been using extra revenue to expand services. This has been successful and we’re going to continue doing that. This time, we decided to invest directly in our clients.

As of February 1, 2018, OPG will take a reduced revenue share if clients do one thing:

THEY  yellow hand clap emoji MUST yellow hand clap emoji TAKE yellow hand clap emojiyellow hand clap emoji VACATION

Creating Work/Life Balance

With this new program, operating on a pilot basis until the end of 2018, OPG clients will have the opportunity to earn a refund of thousands of dollars in revenue share annually by simply taking a few days off. All OPG clients will be eligible to receive a refund on more than 15% of our revenue share if they take ten days of vacation a year.

We just have three rules:

  • No streaming – it must be an actual vacation!
  • They must leave the house and go somewhere that is not work-related. PAX doesn’t count!
  • Share some photos on Twitter, so other broadcasters see that it’s okay to take a break

I know this is just a small step, but it is a step forward. If it inspires even one broadcaster to think about work/life balance and how to make a healthier career, it’s worth it to me.

We’ll be talking about this more on Office Hours tomorrow, so feel free to tune in and ask questions!
